Photographer based in New York City, documenting wildlife and quiet moments in New York and beyond.

Most days you will find me moving slowly through the city. A park. A shoreline. A quiet corner that most people pass without noticing. New York is known for its noise and pace, but if you spend enough time paying attention, you begin to notice how much stillness exists here too. That is where my work begins.

The Work

I photograph wildlife, landscapes, and quiet moments, both in the city and beyond. Birds pausing during migration. A hawk returning to a familiar perch. A person lost in thought for a brief moment before the city moves again. I see myself less as an observer and more as a guest in these spaces. Whether that space belongs to a person, a park, or a small animal going about its day, I try to work with patience and respect.

Wild New York

Since 2017, I have created the Wild New York calendar. What began as a small personal project has become an annual record of the wildlife that shares this city with us. Each edition from 2017 through 2026 reflects time spent learning the rhythms of New York and its seasons. I will begin working on the 2027 calendar soon, guided by the same intention that shaped the first one. To slow down. To notice. To document what is already here.

Sharing Awareness

A big part of why I continue this work is to help others notice what they may not realize is already around them. Many people do not expect to encounter wildlife in their everyday lives, especially in a city. Through photographs, writing, and the Wild New York calendar, I try to create an entry point. Something that invites curiosity rather than instruction. If someone begins to see a park differently, notices a bird for the first time, or feels a sense of connection to the natural world in the middle of the city, then the work has done what I hoped it would do.

Objects and Everyday Use

The products I create grow out of that same idea. Not everyone has the time or opportunity to spend hours in the field, but bringing a photograph into the home allows the experience to continue in a different way. A calendar on the wall. A puzzle on a table. A towel or pillow used every day. These objects are meant to keep wildlife present in ordinary moments, offering a small reminder of the natural world and the quiet joy it brings. In this way, moments from New York and beyond continue to live on in everyday spaces.

Writing and Reflection

My blog is an important part of this work. It is where I reflect on days in the field, rare sightings, missed moments, and the value of patience. The writing comes from the same place as the photographs. The images are made outside. The words arrive afterward, once there has been time to sit with the experience. Together, they form a record of how the work happens, not just what it looks like.

Through Dennis Newsham Photography, my wildlife and landscape photographs find a home. Some become framed prints. Others are made into calendars, puzzles, pillows, towels, and small everyday objects. I think of these pieces as extensions of a moment rather than products. My hope is that they carry a sense of calm and attention into your space, the same feeling I experienced when making the photograph

I also photograph people. Through Tourist Pics NYC, I work with individuals and small groups who want something natural and unforced. Whether it is a celebration, a milestone, or simply time spent walking through the city, my approach remains the same. Be present. Honor the moment. Let things unfold without rushing.

Caden Services LLC is the parent company of Dennis Newsham Photography and Tourist Pics NYC, but at the center of everything is the same idea. Respect the space. Respect the subject. Respect the time we are given.

I hope you enjoy your experience here. Whether you are reading a blog post, exploring the shop, or spending time with a single image, I hope something encourages you to slow down and look a little closer.
